Operating from purpose-built facilities in Wolverhampton, Jones Skips Ltd. is one of the leading waste and recycling service providers operating across a huge swathe of the West Midlands including Telford, Lichfield, Tamworth, Central Birmingham, Stourbridge, Kidderminster, Wolverhampton and the Black Country.
Established in 1998 as a family business, the current MD’s are Richard and Lyndon Rushby. Speaking on behalf of Jones Skips, Andy Yeomans, Commercial & Business Development Director, recalls how the company has grown in recent years saying, “Just 8 years ago when I joined we had 20 staff and 12 trucks, we now have over 85 staff and 40 trucks and the impressive Wolverhampton recycling facility. We recycle non-hazardous materials using container collections of all sizes and types, particularly dealing with the large shopping centres and a lot of construction sites.
“Our growth is directly attributable to our mission statement that we aim ‘To achieve success built upon first class service and 100% reliability’. This has stood us in good stead with our many regular customers.”
Jones Skips operates vehicles to handle the full range of skip sizes from the smallest two-yard to the largest 40-yard Roll-On-Roll-Off containers. Jones Skips also offer a large range of compaction services, trade waste and front-end loaders. The latest Euro 6 DAF trucks to enter the fleet include the DAF CF 340 FAN 26-tonne Day Cab Rear Steer Chassis. Jones Skips have a close association with local DAF supplier Greenhous Commercials of Willenhall for whom Rob Binnion, Truck Sales Manager, has dealt with Jones Skips since 2005.
Rob says of the new DAF CF, “We are delighted to continue to supply DAF vehicles to Jones Skips who are a valued customer of ours. The latest vehicle has all of the safety features on board such as lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning and the latest advanced braking system. It has an 11-litre engine with the latest 12-speed Traxon automated gearbox. For Jones Skips they are supplied with a Dennis Eagle Refuse Body with a VWS weighing system fitted.”
Andy values the relationship with Greenhous Commercials saying, “Our relationship through Rob with Greenhous has been excellent. They turn things around quickly and with little fuss. Our three mechanics understand DAF’s and, whilst we maintain them ourselves, access to parts is a swift operation. We have a pride in the quality of our fleet and it helps to promote our business to a different level. For us reputation, efficiency and customer service are key elements of our success.”
Jones Skips has invested heavily in the fleet of vehicles reacting in advance of the implementation of Clean Air Zones for example in Birmingham. Their trade waste vehicles are fitted with the Spillard 360-degree cameras for increased safety in the operation of the vehicles, with live feedback to base.
