An established Oswestry transport business has taken delivery of two new DAF vehicles – the first time the business has diversified from its 50-plus Volvo fleet.
Having acquired its first Volvo in 2005, Davies National Transport (DNT) of Babbinswood, Whittington, now operates more than 50 vehicles. But it has now expanded its fleet with the purchase of two new DAF’s.
Greenhous DAF supplied the DNT-liveried XF105’s to the business, which offers rentals in the UK and Europe. Managing director Gwynfor Davies said that size, reliability and fuel efficiency were key factors in the decision.
Gwynfor said: “Because of the nature of the business with renting out vehicles, we make sure that all our trucks are updated every three years so we’re frequently replacing stock. We wanted to trial the DAF’s because we wanted the larger models – the XF105 has a Super Space cab, offering driver comfort, and we thought it would be a popular choice.
“Greenhous is our local DAF supplier and we like to user local providers where possibly for the after-sales support. Graham Waters, the Sales Executive we dealt with, has been a great help to us and we’re very pleased with the trucks so far.
“Obviously, the fuel efficiency is the most important factor for us, and we’ve been very impressed so far – it’s certainly our intention to invest in more of the model when we next need to refresh the fleet,” he added.
Graham Waters, Sales Executive at Greenhous DAF based on Battlefield Enterprise Park, said: “We’re delighted that DNT wanted to add the XF105 to its rental offering, and that they chose us to supply. We hope that they prove a popular choice with DNT’s customers.”
